IRM.Net Interactive Map Tablet Support

IRM.Net version 5.0.000.12 now supports tablet devices for the interactive map.   The IRM.Net interactive map on a desktop browser uses the hover over (mouseover) a site to trigger the display of site details including descriptive and rate information and clicking on a site to select it for booking.  On a touch device mouseover is not possible, so with version 5 the following alternative has been added:  On a tablet, tap the site to trigger the display of site details.  Within the site details can be a 'Reserve' button to be tapped to select the site for booking.

Tablet support added in Version 5 only (5.0.000.12 or later).

Configuring the interactive map for tablet support requires setup on both the RDP and MapsAlive sides.  If a new tour is being configured, the spreadsheet created by RDPWin (5.0.000.12) for importing hotspot information will include the necessary code for tablet support.  To add tablet support to an existing tour, each hotspot will need to be modified on the MapsAlive side.  (In the case of an existing tour, if the hotspots would be re-imported to include tablet support, then the locations of each site on the map would be lost.  So, it's probably best to add the tablet support changes manually.)

Tablet support configuration requires RDPWin 5.0.000.12 or later.

New MapsAlive Tour

  1. RDPWin/Configuration/Interactive Map -> Configure Hotspot Content: Ensure that the InUse column for the Template Element 'Reserve Button' is checked. If desired, the content of the element can be modified. For example, to change the styling or the button text from 'Reserve' to 'Book Now'.  Do not change the onclick='reserve(<SiteNumber>);' code as this is what triggers the booking process.  Propagate any changes to all the sites by clicking the 'Propagate Changes' button.
  2. Click the 'Create Hotspots for Import' button. Right click on the grid and choose Export Grid to Exel. The resulting spreadsheet will include the necessary code for tablet support. Use this spreadsheet to import hotspot information into MapsAlive.

Tour Is Already Configured at MapsAlive

  1. RDPWin/Configuration/Interactive Map -> Configure Hotspot Content: check the InUse column for the Template Element 'Reserve Button'.
  2. On the MapsAlive side, the configuration of each hotspot must be changed. (It is not recommended that the hotspots be re-imported from a spreadsheet as the site locations on the map would be lost.)  From the MapsAlive Tour Builder, for each hotspot choose Hotspot/Hotspot Actions from the menu, then make the following changes:
    1. In the Mouseover Options section, choose 'JavaScript' for Mouseover Action
    2. For the mouseover action Javascript enter: getHotspotInfo("xxx");
      Replace xxx with the selected hotspot id. The JavaScript code is case sensitive, the qoutes around the hotspot id are required, the ending semicolon is required.
    3. In the Touch Options section, select the 'Execute the Mouseover Action' radio button for when a hotspot is touched option .
  3. Save the changes, Preview and Publish the tour (from the MapsAlive Tour Builder))
