Issue

Reservations from the GDS are not being automatically input into RDPWin. The GDS interface requires the use of the RDPWin Monitor in order for reservations to be added into RDPWin. If the monitor is stopped, no new reservations will be entered.

Solution

Restart the RDPWin Monitor and change the monitor service to automatically restart if problems occur.

  1. In RDPWin, go to the Night Audit or Day End main menu --> RDPWin Monitor.
  2. Click the Stop RDPWin Monitor button. If the Stop RDPWin Monitor button is grayed out, try either option:
    • Log into the computer as Administrator and click the Stop RDPWin Monitor button again.
    • On the RDP data server, click Start --> Settings --> Control Panel  --> Administrative Tools --> Services. Right click on the RDPWin Monitor service and click Stop.
  3. Click the Start RDPWin Monitor button. If the Start RDPWin Monitor button is grayed out, try either option:
    • Log into the computer as Administrator and click the Start RDPWin Monitor button again.
    • On the RDP data server, click Start --> Settings --> Control Panel  --> Administrative Tools --> Services. Right click on the RDPWin Monitor service and click Start.
  4. In the Monitor Reservations screen, verify that the RDPWin Monitor Log section at the bottom of the screen is logging information.
  5. If these steps do not re-start the Monitor, try the steps directly on the RDP data server.  Depending on network permissions, you may not be able to restart the services from a remote location.

Additional Configuration:

Set the service to restart automatically if a failure occurs.

  1. From the RDP data server, click Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services.
  2. Right click the RDPWin Monitor server and select Properties.
  3. On the General tab, select Automatic in the Startup Type field.
  4. Click the Recovery tab.
  5. In the First Failure field, select Restart the Service.
  6. In the Second Failure field, select Restart the Service.
  7. In the Subsequent Failures field, select Restart the Service.

Configure the RDPWin Monitor to send an email if the service is stopped manually or the data server is rebooted.

  1. On the RDP data server, go to Start --> Run --> Notepad.
  2. Enter the email address of the RDP system administrator in the Notepad document.
  3. File --> Save.
  4. Browse to the following location: c:\program files\ResortDataProcessing\RDPWin.
  5. MonitorEmail Path

  6. Enter the file name of MonitorEmail.
  7. Save.
