Printing Error 1801 on Credit Card Receipts or Folios

Issue

When printing a folio or credit card receipt, you receive the following error:

 1801 (Trace: FolioDetails-btnReceipt_Click: Process: DirectPrint-SendStringToPrinter: DirectPrint-SendBytesToPrinter: Printer Error)

This error indicates that the Windows operating system can’t resolve the print server name. It happens when the folio or credit card default printer either does not exist or the printer named has changed.  The error is specific to a particular workstation.

Solution

 

Check the default printer for credit card receipts.

1.       In RDPWin,  go to the System menu

2.       Configuration

3.       Protobase

4.       Set or change the default printer under the 'Settings for this workstation' section

 

Check the default printer for folios.

1.       In RDPWin,  go to the System menu

2.       Configuration

3.       Reservations

4.       Click the Folio tab

5.       Set or change the default printer under the 'Default printer for this workstation' section

 

Verify the printer is installed and prints, and verify the printer name matches the printer listed in the steps above.

2.       Settings

3.       Printers and Faxes

4.       Reinstall print drivers if necessary
