Deleting Active Users From All RDP Sessions

Issue

When trying to run the RDP 995 utility you may receive the following error.

Solution

  1. User RDPWin, select Reset Availability from the Night Audit or Day End submenu (menu title depends on whether or not the customer is operating as a condo or a vacation rental property) to access the Reset Availability/Inventory screen in RDP-DOS.   Although some of the functions in this solution are available in RDPWin, all steps must be performed in DOS since the Reset Availability function operates in DOS.
  2. Navigate to RDP-DOS Menu 99 and select Option 909 List RDP Users.
  3. Ensure that any users other than the person running Reset Availability are logged off.
  4. To remove users, press the <ESC> key twice and access 993 File Maintenance Utility.
  5. Enter 09 in the File Number field to access the LOCKFILE.DAT.
  6. Press <ENTER> twice to view a list of the users.
  7. Press the <F9> key to select the user for deletion.  The system prompts the user with "Are you sure you want to delete this record?".  Press Y for yes.
  8. Delete all appropriate users.
  9. Exit from RDP-DOS.
  10. Select Monitor from the Windows/Start/Programs/Pervasive/Utilities submenu.
  11. Click the Options menu and select Connect to access the Connect to Remote Server screen.

    Note:  You need the server name, and your login must be part of the Pervasive_Admin user group.
    Click here for instructions on Giving Administrative Rights to a Pervasive User.  The steps provided do not make the user an operating system administrator: just a Pervasive administrator.  Provided you are part of the Pervasive admin group, you should be able to login to the Pervasive Monitor without having full access to the Data Server.
  12. Select Active Users from the MicroKernel (main menu of Monitor).  When additional users are listed, click the Delete All Users option – this will delete all active users in a Pervasive SQL session at the time.
  13. If issues continue while running Reset Availability, there could be users logged into the IRM. Stopping IIS while running 995 may avoid problems of having users logged in during this process.
    1. Log on to the IRM server
    2. Go to Settings ->Control Panel->Administrative Tools-> Services
    3.  Right-click on IIS Admin and select Stop.
  14. Return to RDPWin and select Reset Availability from the Night Audit or Day End submenu again.
  15. Once Reset Availability is complete,
    1. Log on to the IRM server
    2. Go to Settings ->Control Panel->Administrative Tools-> Services
    3.  Right-click on IIS Admin and select Start.
