Problem

If there is an invalid path in the environment search path the system can return a variety of errors when printing to a shared printer, including:

BASIC ERROR 64 Line: 32939 Module: Menu-SrchPath-OutPut-PrScr

BASIC ERROR 68 Line 32939 Module: 410

Solution

To see the current path setting, use Start-Run-CMD and type "PATH".  The path should appear similar to the following:

Each search path is separated by a semi-colon (;).  Any path that does not exist will cause the error.  In the above example, there is a path to "F:\Batch".  If there is not a "batch" folder on the mapped "F" drive, the error will occur.    To change the path on Windows 2000 or XP, proceed as follows:

1. Right Click My Computer

2. Left click Properties

3. Left click the Advanced Tab

4. Left click the Environment Variables button

5. In the bottom pane for system variables, highlight the "path" variable and left click the Edit button (see below)

6. The Path should be displayed similar to the screen below.  Edit the "Variable Value" to remove the invalid path (in this case remove the ";";), and save and exit.
   

    

7. If the Invalid path does not appear in the "Variable Value" above, it may be set from a batch file, such as the batch file used to start RDP, or C:\Windows\System32\Autoexec.nt, or C:\Autoexec.NT.
