C1 UTSEQ: Alternate sequence for displaying unit types on yield management screen

Added 07/19/02
Article ID#:  K000052

Unit types can display in a different sequence other than alpha numeric on the yield management screen.
Up to 3 custom sequences can be defined.

Changes to Table C2

Fields 2, 3 and 4 in Table C2 store the alternate sequences. Use a 4-digit number for the alternate sequences. Example: 0010, 0020, 0030, etc. Space the numbers apart to allow for easy changes. RDP090 updates File 69 with the new key information. The customer shouldn't have to run RDP995 each time they change these 3 sequence fields.  If the new sequences don't work, RDP995 rebuilds the availability with the updated C2 information.

The keys in File 69 are sequence number + unit type. If the customer accidentally puts sequence number 0500 on both DD and K, the system will accept that because the key is still unique since it includes the unit type. In the file, the key would be 0500DD and 0500K. DD would still display before K on the yield management screen.

Sub-record UTSEQ in Table C1

The system looks for sub-record UTSEQ in Table C1 to know whether there are alternate sequences. The first byte in the Special Data field for this sub-record should contain the default sequence. The choices are 0, 1, 2, or 3. 0 is the normal alphanumeric sequence. 1, 2, or 3 correspond to the manual sequences. The rest of the Special Data field is to define a short description for the manual sequences. This description displays on the yield mgmt screen so the user knows which sequence they're currently on. The description may be 8 bytes maximum for each sequence. Enter a description only if the manual sequence is being used. Sequence-1 description should be in bytes 3-10. Sequence-2 description should be in bytes 12-19, and Sequence-3 description should be in bytes 21-28.

Yield Mgmt Screen

If C1UTSEQ exists, the system displays the unit types in the sequence number stored in the first byte: 0, 1, 2, or 3. On the double line above the unit types on the yield management screen, the system prints: "Unit type sequence: (sequence description)." The default description is ALPHA for regular alphanumeric. The 8-character description from UTSEQ is used for the other sequences. The customer MUST enter a description for the system to use that manual sequence. The description is the flag to the program that the manual sequence is in use.

To toggle to a different sequence, press <Alt>+U. This option is listed with the other keys under <F10>. Whatever unit type is currently highlighted becomes the starting unit type for the new sequence. There is no change to the rates plans on the bottom because the highlighted type stays the same. The description above the unit types changes as well.
